Abseiling Post Wedding Photoshoot Scotland in Glencoe
Post wedding photoshoot Scotland - KB + Alicia
Now, you’ll probably have seen Glencoe pop up all over the place, maybe even without knowing where it is or what you’re looking at. You’ll definitely recognise the distinctive shape of Buachaille Etive Mòr. It features in TV ads, on postcards, calendars and the Scottish Tourist Board absolutely love showing it off! Visitors from all over the world flock to Glencoe and you’ll often see portrait shoots taking place in the area. It’s an absolutely stunning spot and I knew I was in for a treat when KB and Alicia told me they were keen to head there for their post wedding session.
What I didn’t realise until a bit later on was that they wanted to explore Scotland from a very different perspective…from halfway down a cliff!
Their idea was right up my street. When I’m not photographing weddings - or stuck at my computer editing - you’ll often find me scaling a wall at an indoor climbing centre or hanging off a rock somewhere. Yep, I love a bit of rock climbing!
Abseiling portrait shoot at Rest and Be Thankful
We were all up bright and early that morning, ready to head over to Rest and Be Thankful (an affectionate nickname for the pass out of Glen Croe). We rigged up all the ropes and harnesses and were soon ready to head over the cliff.
I’m just going to pause here and say, this shoot looks mega cool. And it really was. But KB, Alicia, and I are all experienced climbers and have a bit of rope work training. Please don’t try and do something similar unless you know what you’re doing. End of safety talk…on with the adventure!
Once we were all rigged up KB and Alicia got changed into their fancy clothes, plus climbing shoes. Alicia’s beautiful dress had been brought over from Singapore, especially for this shoot. Amazing!
We took a few pictures up at the top before they made their way over the cliff edge and swung about for a bit. It was a lot of fun!
James Bond inspired wedding shoot, Glencoe
That wasn’t the end of the shoot, oh no. Now it was time to get a bit classy.
KB and Alicia jumped in their wee Fiat, a proper classic, and we drove up to Glencoe and Skyfall valley. Otherwise known as Glen Etive. You might recognise the little house from the Bond film, it’s a pretty epic spot and I knew we would get some cool photos there.
Our final stop took us to the foot of Etive Mor, what a backdrop! It was the perfect place to finish such a brilliant shoot.
If you’re after a pre or post wedding photoshoot in Scotland then get in touch. I promise I won’t make you dangle off a rock - unless you want to of course! Let’s go on an adventure!
